To The Details

Chile ayuda Chile (Chile helps Chile)
Vamos Chile (Let's go Chile)
Fuerza Chile (Be strong Chile)

Saturday morning, one week after the earthquake, there was an energy in the air. The statements above can be seen on car windows and signs all around the country. As many places in Chile found themselves recovering and getting back to normal, there was a sense that it was time. Time to help. Time to stand together. Time to get busy...Because all are aware that many others in this country remain surrounded with the struggle.

So, with flags all about and messages of strength and solidarity all around, Chile is getting to work. The picture above was taken on the road as we passed a caravan of cars and trucks heading north with aid, all dawning the Chilean flag.

We had a successful day Saturday, speaking with local pastors and officials, learning more about how we could help, and paving the way to do so. And back in Temuco, steps were being taken to be ready to help on a larger scale than we could last week. An unoccupied building was loaned to be our base of operations. Materials and goods were bought, hundreds of cardboard boxes were donated, and plans and pricing for temporary shelters were made. Monday, the Hinds will head back north with a vehicle full of powdered milk and diapers, specifically requested as an urgent need by the municipality in CaƱete. In the meantime, many hands will continue preparing care packages that will ship out on Tuesday.

Members of a young church plant help prepare care packages.
It was all hands on deck...
No matter how big or small!

Please continue to pray for stamina, wisdom, efficiency, and effectiveness in our attempts to help those most in need. Through it all, pray for God to be glorified.

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the
earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart
of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their
surging.   Selah
There is a river whose streams make
glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High
dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress   Selah
Come and see the works of the Lord,
the desolations he has brought on the
earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the
earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the
spear,
he burns the shields with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.   Selah
