Fútbol Fun

Did you catch it? Did you notice? Did you watch?

For us, the World Cup made for a fun month here in South America. I'm not sure if you knew it, but soccer is kinda popular here, especially when Chile is in the mix.

So, we got on the bandwagon and did our best to be a two-team family: USA and Chile. We watched all three of Chile's group stage games in Mario's church's fellowship hall using a projector. We watched the USA games at the Tomlinson's house in English (thanks to Hava).

We congratulate any of you Spain fans out there. They played an impressive tournament, and we were excited to see a new country added to the list of those who have taken the ultimate soccer prize.

All in all, I'd say our family grew together in our appreciation of the world's game. Such drama, such finesse, such athleticism, such skill. Very fun. Here's some images from one of our gatherings, including our pregame 'tailgate' food, a disco comprised of shellfish, sausages, pork chops and steaks. And, of course, don't forget the mate!
